LincEdge - Project Management Software as a Service for Technicians out in the field.
Making life easier for technicians in the field
Software as a Service startup company LincEdge work with technicians out in the field performing home installations. Their goal was to create a project and task management tool that would enable technicians in the field to be able to track project expenses, progress, tasks and other data. One of the other innovations we introduced as well was to provide them with additional tools which would allow them to contact customers in the field and let them know if they will be late for their appointment. All this interaction would be closed through the web app. There would also be a customer portal which would enable customers to track progress. It was a very exciting and fun project.
I got to flex my newly found UX muscles on creating user stories, interactive wireframes and prototypes, acceptance criteria and more. Working closely with the lead developer and product owner we established a really beautiful and solid interface concept based on material design principles by the end of my time with LincEdge. Sadly before the project got any further the team fractured a little and the progress halted and my designs slipped into the backlog. They are however still going and in beta now so the future is very bright.

Tablet Ready
Making sure that technicians could use the software out on the road and in the field was key to the success of the project. With that in mind we started with a tablet first approach and worked up to desktop. Mobile was to come later but primarily we realised the technicians out there will be using laptops or tablets to run diagnostic software.
